Vietnam Veterans of America was founded in 1978. VVA is a growing
national membership organization with over 60,000 members in over 700 Chapters throughout the United States. VVA is a congressionally charted and state licensed non-profit national service organization for Vietnam and Vietnam Era Veterans.
VVA'S Founding Principle:
"Never again will one generation of veterans abandon another."
Goals:
VVA's goals are to promote and support the full range of issues important to Vietnam veterans, to create a new identity for this generation of veterans, and to change public perception of Vietnam veterans.
VVA Chapters are involved in many projects to help veterans and their communities, locally and across the country. Vietnam Veterans of America is proving: "We are the best of a generation." VVA Chapter 451 Baltimore was established in 1989 for Vietnam Era Veterans in the Baltimore area. We are dedicated to the precept that: "No veteran should have to stand alone."
Some of our activities include:
• Providing emergency relief to veterans, scholarships to children of veterans, assistance to local charities, food for the homeless, blood drive, and other community projects.
• Stand for Veterans issues in the community.
• Hold services at the Maryland Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Memorial Day and Veterans day.
• Publish The Perimeter, a free newsletter for members and supporters.
• Hold regular monthly membership meetings and a variety of social events to enjoy and promote the camaraderie of others who understand the Vietnam experience.
•
Our award-winning Color Guard participates in local parades and functions as well as being the Official Color Guard of the NFL Baltimore Ravens.
