~ Operation Remember ~

What is Operation Remember?
Operation Remember is an effort to recover photographs of  all the individuals whose names appear on the Maryland Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

Why is this project important?
The names of 1046 individuals are contained on the Maryland Vietnam Veterans Memorial.  A name etched in granite or marble honors an individual for their ultimate sacrifice but does not enable the viewer to relate to that name in a personal way.

To coin a phrase "A picture is worth a thousand words". One look at a photo and you immediately connect the name with an individual.  You experience a personal connection. They become real people, with all the human virtues.

For young and old alike,  the stark reality of meeting these individuals face to face brings home the point that in all war there is a great price to pay in the young men and women who make the ultimate sacrifice.

They gave up their future to protect and defend ours.  It is now our duty to protect, defend, and honor their past.

They will never be forgotten by family, friends or comrades.  Operation Remember will ensure that their past will be carried to future generations.  Our goal is to see that these 1046 names remain individuals and not just names on a wall.
