Cast from the hit TV Series "Homicide"

" HOMICIDE"
GAINS NEW LIFE AT HOLABIRD

"THAT FIREPLACE IS AWESOME"

To the acclaim of cast and crew alike, Chapter 451 hosted  the production of an episode of the hit TV series, " Homicide" in December.

Scheduled on NBC in March, both interiors and exteriors were shot at our humble abode.  The outside featured the discovery of a dead body at the desolate end of the parking lot, and the inside, the BVA Lounge as the scene of heavy dialogue. But the real star of the show never made it before the camera - the FIREPLACE.

THE RIGHT STUFF

On a cold and blustery day, with light snow falling for 4-5 hours, everyone up and down the line appreciated the warmth and coziness provided by the fireplace.  Rarely does an Action Drama find all the comforts of home in one location, yet sample this sprinkling of oft-repeated quotes:

" Wonderful.  There's no noise, no parking problem, no traffic, and no people problem."
" My God, we can eat indoors, and it's warm and clean."
" It's spread out and quiet, and you guys are so nice."
"Jeez, you can smoke INSIDE the building… Unbelievable."
" We roasted marshmallows at lunch.  It seemed like home."
And of course…." The fireplace - it's awesome!"

THE RIGHT PLACE

The episode is entitled, "Lies and Other Truths", and concerns a spy caper in Baltimore, particularly appropriate for Ft. Holabird, home of the old Army Intelligence School.

The BVA Lounge was redecorated to accent the military aspect, with Unit Flags hung from the ceiling, and large model planes suspended over the bar.  Chapter members present were so impressed with the improvements, they quickly decided to leave them in place, and hope that the membership will approve also.

The production crew, made up of 75-80 people, most from Baltimore, raved over the possibilities.  The flexibility, suitability, and availability of our Chapter Home struck all the decision-makers immediately.  The Assistant Production Manager remarked "If you'll have us, we'll come back a thousand times.  This place is fantastic."

We've been informed that we are now listed with the Maryland State Film Commission as a locale site and word would spread fast.  Watch out Hollywood!
